On to the Next Game
Now that the latest 3 releases are in the hands of the Pre-Order customers it's time for me to take a little break.  Of course what that really means is that it's now time to pack up games to send to the distributors.   And while that is going on a few good people are working behind the scenes to get the next games ready for production.

First up will be Tanga 1914 - The British Invasion of German East Africa in WWI.  Followed by Battle of the Adobe Walls - Vol. III in Michael Taylor's CSR Award winning "Indian Wars of the American West" series

Stay tuned for more information .......

At long last the log jam of 2011 has been cleared and the above 3 games are now available.  Pre-Order payments are being taken via a link on your Pre-Order account page, and in an email notification that will be sent out this weekend. If you haven't yet Pre-Ordered one of these games you have until January 15th to create an account, Pre-Order the game(s), and enjoy the savings.  Shipping is scheduled to begin on January 17th for all three games.
I want to thank everyone who assisted me in making this happen and my customers who exhibited a great deal of patience, and belief in me.

Coming Soon-ish!
Hell Over Korea - Slouch Hats & Eggshells - Tonkin
The production of these games has officially started as I am now assembling the EasyPunch™ counters for all three in preparation for the next step which is die-cutting.  The boxes will be ordered soon, and the final touches are being done on the maps and rules/charts.  We are not out of the tunnel quite yet but the light at the end is definitely getting brighter.  I just hope it's not an oncoming train!

Hell Over Korea will be the first to be released and since all three games will be coming out in rapid succession there will be an opportunity to save on shipping charges if you have more than one of these games on Pre-Order by placing a hold on them until all games are available for shipping.  Look for more information in the Pre-Order Payment email that will go out when the first game is ready.

Production Update
The year hasn't exactly gone as I had planned and with only 3 months remaining it's going to be a very busy end for me.  This week has seen a lot happening, such as: I received the box proofs for Slouch Hats & Eggshells plus Hell Over Korea (and new boxes for Ici, c'est la France too). I also picked up the new die for those two games and will get a test hit tomorrow that I will then use to align the counter artwork. Vance von Borries is currently proofing the final components for Slouch Hats & Eggshells and once I get the nod from him I will finalize the counter artwork layout. Last weekend Kim Kanger and I finalized the counter sheet layout for Tonkin and this weekend (via Skype and it's shared desktop feature) made the last decisions on the new cover artwork, and the chart layout for the map. Steve Dixon has approved the counters for Hell Over Korea, the map is complete, and the charts/rules are being worked on as we speak.

Those 3 games are all coming together at the same time will be released in rapid succession and I hope to be able to close the year out with Tanga.

I do appreciate the patience and support that has been shown in this somewhat of a drought year as far as game releases goes.

B-29 Superfortress is now Out of Stock
I thought this wouldn't happen until the end of the year but thanks to very brisk sales in the last two months I have sold my last copy of this game.  I want to say thank you to Steve and Shawn for a great design and to all of you who purchased it and helped make this the first sold out game for LWG.

Next Release
As you can see below the next release, Slouch Hats & Eggshells, is one step closer to production as the proof files are in house and being reviewed.  Once this step is complete I will better be able to determine a ship date but a minimum of 6 weeks is needed to get the parts produced/assembled.

Good Press
The latest issue of Battles magazine contains a review of Mike Taylor's first game in his Island War Series - Saipan & Tinian, in which it stacks up most favorably against two other games currently in production covering the same battle(s).  Also in the same issue is an article on the upcoming Pre-Order game by John Gorkowski titled "The Great Game" which recreates the 19th Century Anglo-Russian struggle for supremecy in Central Asis.

Add to that a video review by Marco Arnaudo of B-29 Superfortress that was both very positive and informative and LWG has had a very good run of late.  I should also mention that my attendance at the CSW Expo in Tempe was equally as positive with some very nice things being conveyed by players, designers, artists, and publishers alike.

Thanks to all for your continued support,

Production Update
My apologies for being somewhat absent of late but I have been quite busy trying to get things ready for display at the upcoming CSW Expo. Progress is still being made on a wide variety of projects and I want to make you aware of some adjustments that have been made to the 2011 production schedule. The release order is now as follows:

  • Slouch Hats & Eggshells - final artwork is being wrapped up now by Brandon who is working on the map, and myself and component production will begin in mid-June after I return from the CSW Expo.
  • Hell Over Korea (module for B-29 Superfortress) - Brandon Pennington is working on the map and counter artwork now. I will tackle the rest of the components after the release of Slouch Hats.
  • Tonkin - Kim Kanger and I will begin tackling the final wrap up on this game after his return from Africa in July. He has a good handle on the design/graphics for this game so fine tuning will be mostly what we do. As we did for Ici, c'est la France.
  • Tanga 1914 - Beta testing of this game brought forth some issues I wanted the designers to explore so they are currently obliging my desires. The artwork is 95% complete on this so hopefully some of the components can be put into production in the meantime thus shortening the additional delay.
  • Abobe Walls - no update here, just waiting its turn and undergoing some final playtesting this summer with Mike and a few others.
I am a bit behind schedule as I had hoped to have Tanga out by now, and Slouch Hats ready for the Expo. However, I still remain highly confident that all five games will be released this year as work is being done on all games concurrently. This will result in the games being released closer to each other than anticipated and if anyone with a Pre-Order finds that the funds are not in the budget when a game is released I will gladly hold their Pre-Order pricing until the funds become available.

More Podcasts
This time John Poniske, designer of both Fire on the Mountain and Maori Wars, was interviewed by the Fantasard Team in New Zealand.  You can catch the latest podcast here, and Johns interview starts at about the 3:34 mark.  http://www.fantasard.blogspot.com  The first part of the podcast touches briefly on the playtesting they are doing for Kim Kangers upcoming release Tonkin, including a Dien Bien Phu moment in the game.

In addition to that podcast, the latest edition of Point 2 Point features Jason talking about the upcoming release of the Indian Wars of the American West series.   He goes into quite a bit of detail about the game system so if you are at all on the fence about this series be sure to listen to this podcast. It begins at about 40 minutes in.  Thanks Jason for your assistance in getting the word out.  http://point2point.libsyn.com/

Fantasard Podcast Interview
Yesterday I was interviewed by a gaming group out of New Zealand for a podcast that they host. They are a rare combination of Fantasy and War gamers and have adopted the name "Fantasard" (Fantasy & Grognard). They are a great group of gamers who really have a passion for the hobby and I am most appreciative of them taking the time to talk to me. In the interview we chat broadly about war boardgaming, Legion Wargames, and some of what is keeping me busy these days. For those of you who don't know me it should give you a little insight (good or bad) into me and LWG.

CSW Expo, June 6th, Tempe Arizona
The CSW Expo is only two months away and work is being done by more than a few people to get Tanga 1914, plus Slouch Hats & Eggshell complete enough to have production quality copies of both games available for display. Those two games will go into full production after I return from the Expo.  While those two games move through the final stages of production work will begin on Tonkin: The French Indo-China War 1950-1954 by Kim Kanger, which will be the third game released in 2011.

January is Gone
The last month was spent working on a variety of upcoming projects, and a fair amount of snow shoveling.  The Battle of Tanga, 1914 is undergoing beta testing now and will be entering the production stage around the end of February.

Also scheduled for the end of February is the addition of what has now grown to 11 new CPO games.  I had two late additions to the list to include a game covering the battle of Dien Bien Phu by none other than the French military history expert Kim Kanger, as well as the first point to point offering, "The Great Game: Rival Empires in Central Asia 1837-1886", covering the 19th Century near-collision between Victorian Britain and Tsarist Russia.  Look for the announcement on CSW and get ready to Pre-Order!

Next up is the artwork for Slouch Hats & Eggshells as my goal is to have that released in time to take to the CSW Expo in June.

Back To Business
The ATO project is wrapping up and so is 2010.  While it has been my pleasure to be involved with the team at ATO it is time to get back to the myriad of projects that require my attention here and to launch into the new year with vigor and determination.  2010 saw only one game released and I fully intend to quadruple that number in 2011.  First stop, WWI German East Africa and the Battle of Tanga 1914.

Special Project for ATO Magazine
Steve Rawling at ATO has had some unfortunate incidents of late that has left him without a graphic artist and behind on several issues.  Steve has been a great asset to me and so many others in the industry that I have agreed to assist him by working on the counter and map graphics for the much vaunted double-sized Annual issue.  Things will be a little quiet around here while I tackle this project that contains no less than 4 games from 4 designers all covering Operation Barbarossa.

On To Other Projects
The shipping of Saipan & Tinian to all of the Pre-Order customers and all distributors/retailers is now complete. The  game has been very well received, and I want to thank those of you who sent me your impressions of the game and the quality of the components. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.  With that project now complete here is a list of what I am currently working on:

Tanga 1914 - Final development, beta testing, component layout.
Slouch Hats & Eggshells
